We bring Democrats in the west side of Houston together to organize, learn, and take meaningful action in our community.
Our purpose
West Houston Democrats is a grassroots club dedicated to strengthening Democratic participation and making local voices heard. We create welcoming ways for neighbors to connect with the issues, candidates, and volunteer opportunities that shape our community. Our geographic focus runs west from the Galleria to Highway 6, between Westheimer and I-10 and adjacent neighborhoods.
Our area
West Houston Democrats serves the communities bounded by Highway 6, Interstate 10, Loop 610, and the Westpark Tollway — including the Energy Corridor, Memorial City, Westchase, and surrounding neighborhoods.
This club existed for many years before it entered a phase of hibernation. In 2018 we revived the club and made it stronger and more dynamic than ever. Since then we have hosted hundreds of speakers and candidates in our monthly meetings, grown our membership, and meeting attendees.
We encourage informed voting, respectful dialogue, and practical ways for people to get involved. From voter registration to canvassing, texting and phone banking, we focus our energy on work that helps people participate, helps to elect Democrats at every level of government, and helps to make a difference.
Our meetings (the last Thursday of the month) are designed to provide interesting, compelling, and timely speakers so our members and guests can make informed decisions about current issues and events.
